Who We Are

Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) is a renowned leader in community engagement, making positive change through research, community service, and educational outreach. The Office of Community Engagement (OCE) at Morehouse School of Medicine aims to promote and strengthen effective partnerships between faculty, staff, and students and those who identify as: community residents and leaders, government agencies, faith-based organizations, or health and social service agencies.

What We Do

What is Community Engagement?

Morehouse School of Medicine holds to an applied, cross –cutting, definition of community engagement that includes the systematic allocation of educational, clinical, research and clinical resources (e.g., fiscal, knowledge, time, infrastructure) for partnerships and outreach approaches.

Our approaches are 1) community-led, co-created or informed, 2) dynamic, 3) culturally and contextually tailored, 4) established and sustained through mutually and exponentially beneficial community-academic partnerships, and 5) established, informed, improved or adapted for evidence-based interventions. Working collectively, these strategies contribute to our vision of leading the creation and advancement of health equity locally, nationally and globally.

Request Our Services at your Event!

Attention please! A change is coming to our process! To strengthen our commitment to sustainability and ensure that our resources are used where they can create the greatest shared impact, the Office of Community Engagement, in partnership with the Health Equity for All Lives (HEAL) Clinic, are implementing a refined process for receiving and reviewing partnership requests. This updated approach allows us to more effectively identify opportunities that align with our strategic priorities while fostering collaboration that is thoughtful, equitable, and mutually beneficial.   Moving forward, all partnership inquiries will move through a streamlined review framework that helps us identify opportunities aligned with our core priorities and values. By focusing our efforts where they can create the greatest shared benefit, we aim to build relationships that are thoughtful, mutually supportive, and grounded in sustainable practice.   We appreciate your understanding as we make this transition and look forward to cultivating partnerships that help advance a resilient and thriving future for the communities we serve.  Be on the lookout for additional guidance!

Here, at Morehouse School of Medicine's Office of Community Engagement, we also take requests to attend other organizations' events. Would you like to have our student-run H.E.A.L. clinic conduct health screenings at your event? Or would you like a speaker who can discuss various health topics? Morehouse School of Medicine would be honored to attend your event and offer our services to your community! We only ask that you turn in an event request form 8 weeks in advance of your event date (so if you have an event in May, your form should be submitted in March). For more information on our processes, check out our website by clicking on this link.

Check out the H.E.A.L. agency page to learn more about what they do. H.E.A.L. can offer the following free services at your event: blood pressure screening, cholesterol screening, glucose screening, and vaccinations (Influenza and COVID-19).

Since the H.E.A.L. clinic is student-run, there will be certain months during the year when the clinic will be unavailable due to exams, holidays, etc.

Inactive Months

  • From the 2nd week of May until June.
  • From the 3rd week of November until after New Year.
